Create Facebook Cover

People are used to happy with what has turned out from their hand. You could taste a yummy pizza from a pizza hut or a delicious cake from a bakery. Most of us would try it at home. At least, you could buy a recipe and give to you mother, father or wife. The same home-made idea comes to Facebook user and they would like to have own Facebook cover photo (banner). Many use their mobile phone and capture images and make the as profile cover. It could be home-made and own version. If you think professionally or creative outcome, you could use some instant programs or apps. However, I would recommend Adobe Photoshop. This could turn your idea into reality.

Here are some guidelines before you go to next step to create Facebook cover.
  • Do not use copyright images. It is better to create from your own images and you could download for free.
  • Do not promote campaign, contact information and advertisement by mentioning direct words. You may use those by indirect ideas. People may report it. Facebook do not allow mentioning contact information on the banner.
  • Do not use offensive words and image. It can be reported and make sure that your banner do not breach the Facebook’s community standards.

Create your Facebook cover

Facebook banner size is 851 x 314 pixels, and it slightly differs on mobile devices.  Always remember to give a space for profile photo that has 168 x 168 pixels. If you are going to use banner on Page or Group, you can skip it.

Our site has a template and you can download here. This would help to make your banner easily. The template is made by Adobe Photoshop (PSD file). It has layers and guide lines.

Open the file. This would looks likes as following image.

Hide all layers except the layer that has your photo (and others as per your need).  Click “Rectangular Marquee Tool” and select appropriate area (851 x 314) and then crop. The result would be look as follows.

Save as new file and use it. You can save as JPG file. PNG file would be clearer as it does not compress the image as JPG does, but size could be big.
